Yum — a Chili Cheese Dog Bake is pure comfort food! It’s like chili dogs and crescent rolls had a delicious casserole baby. 🧀🌭

Here’s a simple, crowd-pleasing recipe:

🌭 Chili Cheese Dog Bake Dinner

Serves: 4–6
Prep time: 10 minutes
Cook time: 25–30 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough (or puff pastry)
  • 1 package (8) hot dogs
  • 1 can (15 oz) chili (with or without beans, your choice)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
  • 1/4 cup diced onions (optional)
  • 1 tbsp butter (melted, optional for brushing the rolls)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven:
    • Set to 375°F (190°C) and lightly grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Assemble the chili base:
    • Spread the can of chili evenly on the bottom of the dish.
    • Sprinkle about half of the cheese over the chili layer.
  3. Wrap the hot dogs:
    • Unroll the crescent dough and separate into triangles.
    • Place a hot dog on the wide end of each triangle.
    • Roll it up like a pig in a blanket.
  4. Layer it up:
    • Arrange the wrapped hot dogs on top of the chili in the dish.
    • Brush tops lightly with melted butter (optional, for golden color).
  5. Bake:
    • Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until crescent rolls are golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Add cheese & finish:
    • Sprinkle remaining cheese (and onions if using) over the top.
    • Return to oven for 3–5 minutes, until cheese is melted.
  7. Serve:
    • Scoop out a hot dog and some chili for each serving.
    • Top with extra cheese, diced onions, or a drizzle of mustard if you like.

Optional Add-Ons

  • Add jalapeños or hot sauce for spice.
  • Mix in a can of diced tomatoes or extra chili beans to make it heartier.
  • Use smoked sausage or beef hot dogs for richer flavor.

Would you like me to give you a homemade chili version to use in this bake instead of canned chili?
