Perfect choice — Steak Fajitas are sizzling, colorful, and full of flavor. 🌶️🔥 Tender strips of marinated steak with caramelized peppers and onions wrapped in warm tortillas — a total crowd-pleaser.

Here’s a tried-and-true restaurant-style steak fajita recipe you can easily make at home.

🥩 Steak Fajitas Recipe

🧺 Ingredients (Serves 4)

For the steak & marinade:

  • 1½ lbs flank steak or skirt steak (can also use sirloin)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons lime juice (fresh is best)
  • 2 tablespoons orange juice (adds subtle sweetness)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon oregano
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • Optional: pinch of cayenne or red pepper flakes for spice

For the veggies:

  • 1 large red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 large yellow or orange pepper, sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

To serve:

  • Flour or corn tortillas, warmed
  • Toppings: sour cream, guacamole, pico de gallo, shredded cheese, or lime wedges

🔪 Instructions

  1. Marinate the steak
    • In a bowl or zip bag, combine olive oil, lime juice, orange juice, garlic, and all spices.
    • Add steak and coat well.
    • Marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or up to 8 hours for maximum flavor.
  2. Cook the steak
    • Heat a large cast-iron skillet or grill pan over medium-high heat until very hot.
    • Remove steak from marinade, letting excess drip off.
    • Cook 3–5 minutes per side (depending on thickness) for medium doneness.
    • Transfer to a cutting board and let rest for 5–10 minutes.
  3. Sauté the vegetables
    • In the same pan, add 1 tablespoon olive oil.
    • Add sliced onions and peppers; season with a little salt and pepper.
    • Sauté for 5–7 minutes, until tender and slightly charred.
  4. Slice and serve
    • Slice steak thinly against the grain into strips.
    • Add steak back to the pan with veggies to toss and heat through.
    • Serve sizzling hot with warm tortillas and your favorite toppings.

🌮 Optional Add-Ons & Tips

  • For smoky flavor: add a few dashes of liquid smoke or cook on an outdoor grill.
  • Make it creamy: drizzle with chipotle-lime crema or cilantro-lime sauce.
  • Meal prep: store steak and veggies separately, then reheat quickly in a skillet.

Would you like me to give you a chicken and shrimp fajita combo version or a sheet-pan oven-baked version for easier cleanup?
