🧈 Classic Grilled Cheese Sandwich

πŸ“ Ingredients (makes 1 sandwich)

  • 2 slices of bread (white, sourdough, or whole wheat)

  • 2–3 slices of cheese (cheddar, American, Swiss, or a combo)

  • 1–2 tbsp butter (softened) β€” or mayo for toasting


🍳 Instructions

  1. Butter the bread:
    Spread butter (or mayo) evenly on one side of each bread slice. These sides will face outward.

  2. Assemble:
    Place cheese slices between the unbuttered sides of the bread, buttered sides facing out.

  3. Cook:
    Heat a skillet over medium heat.
    Place the sandwich in the pan and cook until the bottom is golden brown and crisp β€” about 2–3 minutes.
    Flip carefully and cook the other side until golden and the cheese melts β€” another 2–3 minutes.
    (If the bread browns too quickly, lower the heat so the cheese can melt.)

  4. Serve:
