Grandma’s peach cobbler

Posted on March 26, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a classic Grandma’s Peach Cobbler recipe—sweet, juicy peaches topped with a tender, buttery crust. Perfect warm with ice cream or whipped cream.

Ingredients (Serves 6–8)

For the filling:

  • 6–8 fresh peaches (or 2 cans of sliced peaches, drained)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 2 teaspoons cornstarch (optional, for thicker filling)

For the topping:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter (melted)
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare the Filling
    • Peel and slice fresh peaches if using fresh.
    • In a bowl, combine peaches, sugar, lemon juice, vanilla, cinnamon, and cornstarch. Mix well.
    • Pour peach mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  3. Prepare the Topping
    • In a separate bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • Stir in milk and melted butter (and vanilla if desired) until a smooth batter forms.
  4. Assemble
    • Pour the batter over the peaches. It’s okay if some peaches peek through—the batter will rise as it bakes.
  5. Bake
    • Bake 35–45 minutes, or until topping is golden and set.
    • Check with a toothpick—inserted in the topping, it should come out clean.
  6. Serve
    • Let cool slightly before serving.
    • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Tips for Grandma-Style Peach Cobbler

  • Extra juicy: Add a little extra sugar if peaches are tart.
  • Texture twist: Sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking for a slight caramelized crust.
  • Shortcut: Canned peaches work year-round and make the recipe faster.

💡 Quick Hack: For even softer topping, dot melted butter on top of batter before baking—it creates a rich, golden crust reminiscent of classic homemade cobbler.

I can also make a “low-sugar or keto version” of Grandma’s Peach Cobbler if you want a lighter dessert option. Do you want me to do that?
