Southern drop buttermilk biscuits are a classic, easy-to-make version of Southern biscuits. Instead of rolling and cutting, you simply “drop” spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet, making them quick, rustic, and soft.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1 cup buttermilk

Simple Method

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C)
  2. Mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt
  3. Cut in cold butter until crumbly
  4. Stir in buttermilk until just combined
  5. Drop spoonfuls onto a greased baking sheet
  6. Bake 12–15 minutes until golden brown
