Chocolate Mousse

🍫 Chocolate Mousse

Chocolate mousse is a classic light and creamy dessert from France. The word “mousse” means foam in French, which describes its airy, smooth texture.


🍫 Ingredients

  • 200 g dark chocolate (chopped)
  • 3 eggs (separated into yolks and whites)
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • A pinch of salt

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Melt the chocolate
    • Melt chopped chocolate using a double boiler or microwave. Let it cool slightly.
  2. Mix egg yolks
    • Stir the egg yolks into the melted chocolate until smooth.
  3. Whip cream
    • Beat the cream until soft peaks form.
  4. Beat egg whites
    • In another bowl, beat egg whites with sugar and a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form.
  5. Combine gently
    • Fold whipped cream into the chocolate mixture.
    • Then gently fold in the egg whites.
  6. Chill
    • Spoon the mousse into serving glasses and refrigerate for 2–3 hours.

🍓 Optional Toppings

  • Whipped cream
  • Chocolate shavings
  • Fresh berries (like strawberries or raspberries)
  • Cocoa powder dust
