Creamy pour-over potatoes recipe

Creamy Pour-Over Potatoes is a comforting casserole where sliced potatoes are baked while a rich cream mixture is poured over them, allowing the sauce to soak in and create a tender, creamy texture.


🥔 Ingredients

  • 2–3 lbs potatoes (russet or Yukon Gold), thinly sliced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup milk
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella)
  • ½ cup sour cream (optional for extra creaminess)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Arrange the sliced potatoes evenly in the dish.
  4. In a bowl, whisk together cream, milk, melted butter, garlic, salt, pepper, and paprika.
  5. Pour the mixture over the potatoes so it seeps between the layers.
  6. Cover with foil and bake 40 minutes.
  7. Remove foil, sprinkle cheese on top, and bake 15–20 minutes more until golden and tender.

  • Slice potatoes thin and evenly so they cook through.
  • Add onions or bacon bits for extra flavor.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley before serving.
