Here’s a classic Italian Apple Cake recipe—soft, tender, and full of sweet apple flavor. 🍏🍰

🍎 Italian Apple Cake (Torta di Mele)

Ingredients (8–10 servings)

  • 3 medium apples (Granny Smith or Fuji), peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup milk
  • ⅓ cup vegetable oil or melted butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Zest of 1 lemon
  • Optional: powdered sugar for dusting

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1️⃣ Preheat oven & prepare pan

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease and flour a 9-inch round cake pan or line with parchment paper.

2️⃣ Mix dry ingredients

  • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

3️⃣ Mix wet ingredients

  • In another bowl, beat eggs, sugar, milk, oil, vanilla, and lemon zest until smooth.

4️⃣ Combine

  • Gradually stir dry ingredients into wet mixture until just combined.
  • Fold in sliced apples, reserving a few for topping.

5️⃣ Bake

  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Arrange remaining apple slices on top.
  • Bake 35–45 minutes, until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6️⃣ Cool & serve

  • Let cool for 10–15 minutes.
  • Optional: dust with powdered sugar before serving.

💡 Tips

  • For extra flavor, sprinkle cinnamon and sugar over the top before baking.
  • Serve warm with whipped cream, vanilla ice cream, or a drizzle of honey.
  • Apples can be mixed varieties for more depth in flavor.

If you want, I can also share a one-bowl, rustic Italian apple cake recipe that takes under 10 minutes prep and is soft, moist, and naturally sweet. 🍏
