🧈 Classic Gooey Butter Cake Recipe

Ingredients

For the crust

  • 1 box yellow cake mix
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 egg

For the gooey topping

  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp vanilla

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 175°C / 350°F.
  2. Mix cake mix, melted butter, and egg. Press into a greased baking pan to form the crust.
  3. In another bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
  4. Add eggs, vanilla, powdered sugar, and melted butter and mix well.
  5. Pour this mixture over the crust.
  6. Bake for 40–45 minutes. The center should stay slightly gooey.
  7. Let cool before cutting into squares.
