Posted on February 27, 2026 by Admin

Here’s a comforting, crowd-pleasing Slow Cooker Creamy Ranch Potatoes recipe — perfect for potlucks, holidays, or an easy weeknight side dish.

🥔 Slow Cooker Creamy Ranch Potatoes

🛒 Ingredients

  • 2½–3 lbs baby potatoes (red or Yukon gold), halved
  • 1 packet (1 oz) ranch seasoning mix (like Hidden Valley Ranch Seasoning Mix)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup (or cream of mushroom for vegetarian)
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened and cubed
  • ½ cup sour cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional but recommended)
  • Salt & black pepper to taste
  • Chopped fresh parsley or green onions (for garnish)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

  1. Prep the potatoes
Wash and halve the potatoes. If they’re larger, cut into bite-sized chunks.
  2. Layer in slow cooker
Lightly grease your slow cooker. Add potatoes.
  3. Mix the creamy sauce
    In a bowl, whisk together:

    • Ranch seasoning
    • Cream soup
    • Sour cream
    • Milk
    • Melted butter

Pour over potatoes and gently stir to coat.

  4. Add cream cheese
Scatter cubed cream cheese over the top (it will melt as it cooks).
  5. Cook
    • Low: 5–6 hours
    • High: 3–4 hours
      Potatoes should be fork-tender.
  6. Finish & stir
Stir everything until smooth and creamy. Add shredded cheddar cheese if using, cover, and let melt for about 10 minutes.
  7. Garnish & serve
Top with parsley or green onions and serve warm.

🔥 Optional Add-Ins

  • Crumbled cooked bacon
  • Diced ham
  • Steamed broccoli
  • A dash of garlic powder or smoked paprika

💡 Tips

  • For extra thickness, cook uncovered for the last 20–30 minutes.
  • If sauce seems too thick, add a splash of milk before serving.
  • Great alongside grilled chicken, steak, or holiday ham.

If you’d like, I can also give you a lighter version, a bacon-loaded version, or a make-ahead freezer version!
