🍫 Moist Chocolate Cake

Rich, soft, and deeply chocolatey — this is a reliable, super-moist cake perfect for birthdays or any craving.


🛒 Ingredients (2 × 9-inch / 23 cm layers)

Dry

  • 1¾ cups (220g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (75g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups (400g) sugar
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • 1½ tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt

Wet

  • 2 large eggs (room temp)
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk (or buttermilk for extra moistness)
  • ½ cup (120ml) vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (240ml) hot coffee (or hot water)

🔥 Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line pans.
  2. Whisk dry ingredients together.
  3. Add eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla. Beat until smooth.
  4. Slowly mix in hot coffee (batter will be thin — that’s normal).
  5. Pour into pans.
  6. Bake 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  7. Cool 10 minutes in pans, then transfer to a rack.

🍫 Simple Chocolate Buttercream

  • 1 cup (225g) butter, softened
  • 3½ cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup cocoa powder
  • ¼ cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla

Beat until fluffy and spreadable.


💡 Tips for Extra Moist Cake

  • Don’t overbake (slightly under is better than over).
  • Use hot coffee — it deepens chocolate flavor.
  • Buttermilk makes it even softer.
  • Wrap cooled layers in plastic and chill before frosting for clean layers.
