🩺 Blood Pressure Measurement

Blood pressure (BP) measures the force of blood pushing against artery walls. It’s recorded as two numbers:

Systolic / Diastolic (mmHg)
Example: 120/80 mmHg

  • Systolic (top number): Pressure when the heart beats
  • Diastolic (bottom number): Pressure when the heart rests between beats

📊 Blood Pressure Categories (Adults)

Category Systolic Diastolic
Normal Less than 120 Less than 80
Elevated 120–129 Less than 80
High (Stage 1) 130–139 80–89
High (Stage 2) 140+ 90+
Hypertensive crisis ⚠️ 180+ 120+

If readings are 180/120 or higher, seek immediate medical care.
