Say less 😄 The air fryer makes a ridiculously good grilled cheese—crispy outside, melty middle, zero babysitting.
Air Fryer Grilled Cheese
Ingredients
- 2 slices bread (white, sourdough, or Texas toast)
- 1–2 slices cheese (American for melt, cheddar for flavor—or mix)
- Softened butter or mayo (yes, mayo 👀)
Instructions
- Preheat air fryer to 370°F (if yours preheats).
- Butter or mayo the outside of each bread slice.
- Put cheese between the unbuttered sides of the bread.
- Place sandwich in the air fryer basket.
- Air fry 4 minutes, flip, then 3–4 more minutes until golden and melty.
Pro Tips (these matter)
- Use toothpicks if your bread is light—the air fryer can get windy.
- Mayo = extra golden crust, no butter burn.
- If the cheese isn’t melty enough, drop temp to 350°F and cook 1–2 more minutes.
Fun Upgrades
- Add bacon or tomato (pat tomato dry)
- Garlic butter on the outside
- Sprinkle parmesan on the buttered side for a crispy cheese crust
- Inside swipe of Dijon for grown-up vibes
Serve with tomato soup and pretend it’s not elite comfort food 😌
