Here’s a classic burrito guide — easy to make, customizable, and perfect for a filling meal. 🌯

🌯 Basic Burrito Recipe

Ingredients

Makes 4 burritos

For the filling:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef, chicken, or beans (or a combination)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp chili powder

  • 1 tsp cumin

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1 cup cooked rice

  • 1 cup cooked beans (black beans, pinto, or kidney beans)

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, Monterey Jack, or Mexican blend)

  • ½ cup salsa or chopped tomatoes

  • Optional: corn, bell peppers, or chopped jalapeños

For assembly:

  • 4 large flour tortillas

  • Sour cream, guacamole, or hot sauce (optional)

  • Lettuce, chopped (optional)

Instructions

1. Prepare the filling

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook onion and garlic until softened.

  2. Add ground meat and cook until browned; drain excess fat.

  3. Stir in chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper.

  4. Add beans, rice, salsa, and any optional vegetables. Heat through.

2. Assemble the burrito

  1. Warm tortillas slightly so they are pliable.

  2. Place ½–1 cup of filling in the center of each tortilla.

  3. Sprinkle with shredded cheese and add any optional toppings (lettuce, sour cream, guacamole).

  4. Fold the sides over the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom to form a burrito.

3. Optional: Toast or grill

  • Heat a skillet over medium heat and lightly toast the burrito seam-side down for 1–2 minutes per side for a crisp exterior.

4. Serve

  • Serve warm with extra salsa, guacamole, or hot sauce on the side.

🌟 Tips

  • For vegetarian burritos, skip meat and use extra beans, rice, and roasted vegetables.

  • Make meal prep burritos by wrapping individually in foil and refrigerating or freezing; reheat in oven or microwave.

  • Spice it up with chipotle peppers, sriracha, or taco seasoning.

  • Add rice or quinoa to make the burrito more filling.

I can also give a smoky beef and bean burrito with homemade chipotle sauce version if you want a restaurant-style flavor.

Do you want me to provide that version?
