Old oven peach cobbler

Posted on January 29, 2026 by Admin

Ohhh yes 😌🍑 old-oven peach cobbler—the kind that tastes like it came straight out of grandma’s kitchen. Simple, buttery, and baked until bubbly and golden.

Old-Oven Peach Cobbler (Classic Style)

Ingredients

  • 4–5 cups sliced peaches (fresh or canned, drained)
  • 1 cup sugar (divided)
  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp cinnamon (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven
    • Heat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Place butter in a 9×13-inch baking dish and put it in the oven to melt.
  2. Prepare Peaches
    • Toss peaches with ½ cup sugar and cinnamon (if using).
    • Let sit while you make the batter.
  3. Make Batter
    • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, and remaining ½ cup sugar.
    • Stir in milk and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Assemble (Do NOT Stir)
    • Pour batter over melted butter in the dish.
    • Spoon peaches evenly over the batter.
    • Do not stir—this is key!
  5. Bake
    • Bake 40–45 minutes until golden brown and bubbly around the edges.
  6. Serve
    • Let cool slightly.
    • Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.

Old-School Tips

  • Fresh peaches? Peel them first for the best texture.
  • Want it extra rich? Sprinkle a little sugar on top before baking.
  • Cobbler thickens as it cools—patience pays off 😉

If you want, I can also give you a Southern-style version with self-rising flour, or a cast-iron old-oven cobbler that gets an extra crispy edge 🍑🔥
