Ooo yes—slow cooker country-style ribs are comfort food royalty. Fall-apart tender, low effort, big payoff. 😌🍖
Slow Cooker Country-Style Ribs
Ingredients
- 1.5–2 kg (3–4 lb) country-style pork ribs
- Salt & black pepper
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp chili powder (optional)
- 1 cup BBQ sauce (your favorite)
- ½ cup chicken broth or water
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp brown sugar (optional, for sweetness)
- 1 small onion, sliced (optional but good)
Method
1. Season
Pat ribs dry and season generously with salt, pepper, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, and chili powder.
(Optional but tasty: sear ribs in a hot pan for 2–3 min per side before slow cooking.)
2. Load the slow cooker
- Scatter sliced onions on the bottom.
- Add ribs.
- Whisk BBQ sauce, broth, Worcestershire, and brown sugar.
- Pour over ribs.
3. Cook
- Low: 7–8 hours (best texture)
- High: 3½–4½ hours
They’re done when a fork slides in easily and the meat is super tender.
4. Optional finish (highly recommended 🔥)
- Transfer ribs to a baking tray.
- Brush with extra BBQ sauce.
- Broil/grill for 5–10 minutes until sticky and caramelized.
Pro tips
- Country-style ribs are meaty—closer to pork chops than ribs—so long, slow heat = magic.
- If sauce is thin, simmer it on the stove for 5–10 min to thicken before brushing.
- Great with mashed potatoes, coleslaw, cornbread, or mac & cheese.
