Golden baked chicken and cheese croissants

Posted on January 25, 2026 by Admin

Ooo this one’s buttery, cheesy, golden perfection 🥐✨
Great for brunch, lunch, or “I want something fancy but easy.”

🥐 Golden Baked Chicken & Cheese Croissants

Ingredients

  • 4 large croissants (bakery or refrigerated)
  • 1½–2 cups cooked chicken, shredded or chopped
    (rotisserie = clutch)
  • 1–1½ cups cheese (Swiss, mozzarella, cheddar, or Gruyère)
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise or Dijon mustard (optional)
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp milk or cream
  • Salt & pepper

Optional upgrades

  • Garlic powder or onion powder
  • Fresh herbs (parsley, thyme)
  • Honey drizzle or hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Prep
Heat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet.
  2. Slice croissants
Cut in half horizontally (don’t cut all the way through if you want them extra sturdy).
  3. Fill
Spread mayo or Dijon inside (if using).
Layer chicken + cheese. Season lightly.
  4. Egg wash
Whisk egg + milk. Brush tops generously for that golden shine.
  5. Butter boost
Brush with melted butter. Sprinkle herbs or garlic powder if you like.
  6. Bake
Bake 15–18 minutes, until cheese is melty and tops are deep golden.
Broil 1–2 minutes if you want extra color (watch closely!).

Flavor twists

  • Chicken Alfredo: add a spoon of Alfredo sauce inside
  • Buffalo chicken: toss chicken with buffalo sauce + blue cheese
  • Ham swap: replace chicken with ham for a croque-style vibe
  • Breakfast version: add scrambled eggs 👀

Pro tips

  • Cover loosely with foil if browning too fast.
  • Let rest 2–3 minutes so the cheese doesn’t lava-slide out.
  • Best eaten warm, but reheats well in the oven (not microwave).

Want a make-ahead party tray version or a sheet-pan bake with sauce poured over like baked sliders?
