This Cheesy Garlic Butter Lobster Tails recipe is rich, dramatic, and way easier than it sounds.


Cheesy Garlic Butter Lobster Tails

Ingredients (serves 2–4)

  • 2–4 lobster tails
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ tsp paprika (smoked if you have it)
  • Salt & black pepper
  • ½ cup shredded mozzarella (or mozzarella + provolone)
  • ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan
  • Optional extras: chili flakes, lemon zest, parsley

Prep the lobster

  1. Butterfly the tails
    Using kitchen scissors, cut down the top of the shell. Gently loosen the meat and lift it to sit on top of the shell.
  2. Season
    Place tails on a baking sheet. Lightly season with salt, pepper, and paprika.

Garlic butter magic ✨

  1. Mix melted butter, garlic, and (optional) chili flakes or lemon zest.
  2. Brush generously over the lobster meat.

Cheese time 🧀

  1. Sprinkle mozzarella evenly over each tail.
  2. Finish with Parmesan on top (this gives that golden crust).

Bake + broil

  1. Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 10–12 minutes, until lobster is opaque.
  2. Broil for 1–2 minutes until bubbly and lightly browned—watch closely!

Finish

  1. Sprinkle with parsley and serve with lemon wedges.

Pro tips

  • Lobster is done at 140°F / 60°C—don’t overcook or it’ll toughen.
  • For extra decadence: mix a little cream cheese into the butter before brushing.
  • Serve with steak, mashed potatoes, or garlic bread (because balance is fake).
