It’s known for being tender, juicy, and a little sweet thanks to the blend of ketchup and Ritz crackers. Here’s how to make it at home:


🥩 Cracker Barrel Meatloaf (Copycat Recipe)

Ingredients:

  • 2 lbs ground beef (80/20 works best)

  • 1 small onion, finely diced

  • 1 small green bell pepper, finely diced

  • 1½ sleeves (about 45) Ritz crackers, crushed

  • 4 oz (1 cup) shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • 3 large eggs, lightly beaten

  • ½ cup milk

  • 1 tsp salt

  • ½ tsp black pepper

Topping:

  • ½ cup ketchup

  • ½ cup brown sugar

  • 1 tsp mustard (yellow or Dijon)


Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan or line with parchment paper.

  2. Mix the meatloaf:
    In a large bowl, combine ground beef, onion, bell pepper, crackers, cheese, eggs, milk, salt, and pepper.
    Mix gently — just until combined (don’t overmix, or it’ll get tough).

  3. Shape and bake:
    Press into the loaf pan and smooth the top.
    Bake uncovered for 45 minutes.

  4. Add the topping:
    While it bakes, mix ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard.
    After 45 minutes, spread topping evenly over the meatloaf.

  5. Finish baking:
    Return to oven and bake another 15–20 minutes, until the glaze is bubbly and the internal temp hits 160°F (71°C).

  6. Rest before slicing:
    Let it sit for 10 minutes before cutting so it holds together.


Serving suggestions:

Pair it just like Cracker Barrel does:

  • Mashed potatoes & brown gravy

  • Fried okra or green beans

  • Buttermilk biscuits or cornbread
