Here’s a simple guide for cutting a fresh pineapple quickly and safely 🍍✨


How to Cut a Pineapple

Ingredients & Tools

  • 1 ripe pineapple
  • Sharp chef’s knife
  • Cutting board

Steps

  1. Remove the Top & Bottom
    • Lay the pineapple on its side.
    • Cut about ½ inch off the crown (green top) and base.
  2. Stand & Peel
    • Stand pineapple upright.
    • Slice downward to remove the skin, following the curve of the fruit.
    • Try to remove the “eyes” (brown spots) as you go.
  3. Remove the Core
    • Cut the pineapple in half vertically, then into quarters.
    • Slice out the tough core from each quarter (it’s the lighter-colored strip in the center).
  4. Cut as Desired
    • Chunks: Slice quarters into strips, then cut crosswise.
    • Spears: Keep the quartered shape as is.
    • Rings: Slice horizontally before removing the core.
  5. Serve or Store
    • Fresh pineapple lasts 3–5 days in the fridge.
    • You can also freeze chunks for smoothies.

Tips

  • Look for a sweet smell at the base for ripeness.
  • Use a sharp knife to avoid crushing the fruit.
  • Keep a paper towel handy—pineapple juice can be slippery!
