Here’s a simple, classic recipe for crispy, golden-brown sticks (perfect for snacks or appetizers). This version is cheese sticks, but you can swap the filling easily 🧀✨


Crispy, Golden-Brown Cheese Sticks

Ingredients

  • 8 mozzarella cheese sticks (string cheese)
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko for extra crunch)
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt & pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prep
    • Freeze cheese sticks for 30–60 minutes (important so they don’t melt too fast).
  2. Breading Station
    • Bowl 1: flour
    • Bowl 2: beaten eggs
    • Bowl 3: breadcrumbs mixed with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper
  3. Coat the Sticks
    • Roll each cheese stick in flour.
    • Dip into egg.
    • Coat with breadcrumbs.
    • For extra crispiness, repeat egg + breadcrumbs once more.
  4. Fry
    • Heat oil to 350°F (175°C).
    • Fry sticks in batches for 1–2 minutes, turning until golden brown.
  5. Drain & Serve
    • Remove to paper towels.
    • Serve immediately with marinara, ranch, or spicy mayo.

Baking or Air Fryer Option

  • Oven: Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 8–10 minutes, flipping once.
  • Air Fryer: Cook at 390°F (200°C) for 5–7 minutes.

Variations

  • Potato sticks: Use parboiled potato sticks and follow the same coating.
  • Chicken sticks: Use cooked chicken strips.
  • Sweet version: Use banana sticks with cinnamon sugar coating.
