Baked Donuts Recipe

Ingredients (makes 10–12 donuts)

  • 2 cups (250 g) all-purpose flour
  • ¾ cup (150 g) sugar
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ tsp nutmeg or cinnamon (optional, classic donut flavor)
  • ¾ cup (180 ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • ¼ cup (60 ml) melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a donut pan.
  2. In a bowl, whisk flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and spice.
  3. In another bowl, whisk milk, eggs, melted butter, and vanilla.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients just until mixed (do not overmix).
  5. Spoon or pipe batter into donut pan, filling about ¾ full.
  6. Bake 10–12 minutes, until lightly golden and spring back when touched.
  7. Cool 5 minutes, then remove from pan.

Simple Glaze Options

Classic Vanilla Glaze

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2–3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla

Mix until smooth and dip cooled donuts.

Chocolate Glaze

  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 2–3 tbsp milk

Tips for Perfect Baked Donuts

  • Use a piping bag or zip-top bag for clean filling
  • Don’t overbake—donuts dry out quickly
  • Brush warm donuts with melted butter before glazing for extra flavor

Flavor Variations

  • Cinnamon sugar: Toss warm donuts in cinnamon + sugar
