Ingredients
- 500 g (1 lb) ground beef (or beef + pork mix)
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (or soaked bread, squeezed)
- 1 egg (for binding)
- ½ cup milk
- 2 tbsp ketchup (plus extra for topping)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (optional)
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp paprika or mixed seasoning
- 2 tbsp oil or melted butter
Instructions
- Prep oven
Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a loaf pan. - Mix meatloaf
In a large bowl, combine ground meat, onion, garlic, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, salt, pepper, and seasoning.
Mix gently—don’t overmix. - Shape
Press mixture into the loaf pan or shape into a loaf on a lined baking tray. - Top
Spread a thin layer of ketchup over the top. - Bake
Bake for 45–60 minutes, until cooked through and juices run clear (internal temp ~70°C / 160°F). - Rest & serve
Let rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
Optional Variations
- Egg inside (stuffed meatloaf):
Boil 2–3 eggs, peel, place them in the center of the meat mixture before shaping, then bake. - Extra moist: Add 2 tbsp tomato paste or grated carrot.
- Spicy: Add chili flakes or fresh pepper.
Serve with mashed potatoes, baked macaroni, or vegetables.
