Warm baked apple fritters

Posted on October 29, 2025 by Admin

Oh, delicious choice — warm baked apple fritters are cozy, cinnamon-scented, and full of juicy apple chunks, but lighter than the fried version. 🍎✨

Here’s a simple, bakery-style recipe that gives you that soft, fluffy interior and caramelized apple goodness — no deep-frying required.

🍏 Warm Baked Apple Fritters

Makes: 8–10 fritters
Prep time: 15 minutes
Bake time: 15–18 minutes

Ingredients

For the Fritters:

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour

  • ¼ cup granulated sugar

  • 1½ tsp baking powder

  • ½ tsp ground cinnamon

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • 1 large egg

  • ⅓ cup milk (or buttermilk)

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

  • 1½ cups peeled, diced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp work great)

  • 1 tbsp melted butter (plus more for brushing, optional)

For the Glaze:

  • ½ cup powdered sugar

  • 1–2 tbsp milk (to desired consistency)

  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt.

  3. Add wet ingredients:
In another bowl, whisk egg, milk, vanilla, and melted butter.
Stir wet mixture into dry ingredients just until combined — don’t overmix.

  4. Fold in apples.
Gently stir in the diced apples until evenly distributed.

  5. Scoop fritters.
Drop spoonfuls of batter (about 2–3 tablespoons each) onto the baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
You can slightly flatten them with the back of a spoon for a more traditional fritter shape.

  6. Bake for 15–18 minutes, until golden brown and set.

  7. Brush with butter (optional) immediately after baking for extra richness.

  8. Glaze while warm:
Whisk glaze ingredients until smooth and drizzle over the warm fritters.
Let set for 5 minutes before serving.

Tips & Variations

  • 🍁 Add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice for a fall flavor twist.

  • 🍏 Mix in a few chopped pecans or raisins for texture.

  • 🍯 Drizzle with warm caramel sauce instead of glaze for an indulgent version.

  • 🧈 Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for dessert.
