Pizza and breadsticks

Posted on January 7, 2026 by Admin

Perfect! Let’s do pizza and breadsticks—two classics that go together beautifully. I’ll give a simple homemade version for both, including a pizza dough you can use for breadsticks too, so you can make them together.

Homemade Pizza & Breadsticks

Ingredients for Dough (makes 2 medium pizzas or 1 pizza + 1 batch of breadsticks):

  • 2 ¼ tsp (1 packet) active dry yeast
  • 1 ½ cups warm water (110°F / 45°C)
  • 3 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp sugar

Instructions for Dough:

  1. Activate yeast: In a bowl, mix warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Make dough: Add flour, olive oil, and salt. Mix until a dough forms. Knead 5–7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Rise: Place dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover, and let rise 1–1.5 hours or until doubled in size.

Pizza Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven: 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside.
  2. Shape dough: Punch down dough, then roll/stretch into desired pizza shape.
  3. Top: Spread sauce, cheese, and toppings of choice.
  4. Bake: 12–15 minutes, until crust is golden and cheese is melted/bubbling.

Breadsticks Instructions:

  1. Shape dough: Roll remaining dough into a rectangle, ~½ inch thick. Cut into sticks (~½–1 inch wide).
  2. Add flavor: Brush with olive oil or melted butter. Sprinkle with garlic powder, Italian herbs, and Parmesan cheese if desired.
  3. Bake: 12–15 minutes at 400°F (200°C) until golden brown.
  4. Serve: Optional: brush with more butter and sprinkle with salt or fresh parsley.

💡 Tips:

  • For extra soft breadsticks, cover them with a damp towel for 5 minutes after baking to trap steam.
  • You can make garlic butter by mixing 3 tbsp melted butter with 1 tsp minced garlic and brushing over the breadsticks.
  • If you want a crispy pizza crust, pre-bake the rolled dough 5 minutes before adding toppings.

If you want, I can also give a super-quick no-yeast pizza and breadsticks version that uses baking powder so you can skip the rising time entirely—it’s faster but still tasty.

Do you want me to give that version too?
