Banana bread brownies

Here’s a banana bread brownies recipe that’s super easy and really good — soft like banana bread, rich like brownies 🍌🍫


Banana Bread Brownies

Ingredients

  • 2 ripe bananas, mashed
  • 1/2 cup melted butter (or oil)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar (or white sugar)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • Optional: 1/2 cup chocolate chips or chopped chocolate

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
    Line or grease an 8×8-inch baking pan.
  2. Mix wet ingredients:
    In a bowl, whisk together mashed bananas, melted butter, sugar, egg, and vanilla.
  3. Add dry ingredients:
    Stir in flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt until just combined.
    (Don’t overmix — that keeps them soft.)
  4. Add extras:
    Fold in chocolate chips if using.
  5. Bake:
    Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.
    Bake for 22–28 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean (a few moist crumbs are perfect).
  6. Cool & slice:
    Let cool before cutting for the best texture.

Tips

  • For more banana flavor: use very spotty bananas.
  • For fudgier brownies: bake closer to 22 minutes.
  • For cakier brownies: bake closer to 28 minutes.
  • Want a swirl? Pour half the batter into the pan, add spoonfuls of peanut butter or Nutella, then swirl lightly.
