Bacon and cheese-stuffed tater tots

Ingredients (makes about 12-16 tots)

  • 1 pound frozen tater tots
  • 4 slices of cooked bacon, chopped
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)

  • Oil or nonstick spray (if baking)

Instructions

1. Preheat & prepare:

  • Preheat oven according to tater tot package instructions (usually 425°F / 220°C).
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly spray with oil.

2. Cook tater tots partially:

  • Bake tater tots for about 10-12 minutes, just until they start to soften but aren’t fully crispy.

3. Stuff the tots:

  • Let the tots cool slightly so you can handle them.
  • Flatten each tot slightly in your hand, place a small amount of shredded cheese and bacon in the center, then carefully roll or pinch it back into a tot shape.

4. Bake again:

  • Place stuffed tots back on the baking sheet and bake 10-15 more minutes, until golden brown and crispy, and cheese is melted.

5. Serve:

  • Sprinkle with green onions or chives if desired. Serve with ketchup, ranch, or your favorite dipping sauce.

  • You can use mozzarella for gooey stretchiness or pepper jack for a spicy kick.
  • For extra crunch, air-fry them at 400°F / 200°C for 10–12 minutes after stuffing.
