Slow cooker beef brisket is perfect for tender, flavorful results with minimal effort 🥩
Here’s a reliable, classic version that works great for sandwiches or plates.


Slow Cooker Beef Brisket

Ingredients

  • 3–4 lb beef brisket (flat or point)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil (optional, for searing)
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 3–4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup beef broth
  • ½ cup BBQ sauce or crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 tsp chili powder or cumin

Instructions

  1. Season brisket: Mix paprika, salt, pepper, and any optional spices. Rub all over brisket.
  2. Sear (optional but recommended): Heat oil in a skillet and sear brisket 2–3 minutes per side until browned.
  3. Layer slow cooker: Place onions and garlic in the bottom. Set brisket on top, fat side up.
  4. Add liquid: Pour broth, BBQ sauce (or tomatoes), Worcestershire, and brown sugar around the meat.
  5. Cook:
    • Low: 8–10 hours (best texture)
    • High: 4–6 hours
  6. Rest & slice: Let brisket rest 15–20 minutes. Slice against the grain or shred.
  7. Optional sauce: Thicken cooking juices or brush brisket with extra BBQ sauce before serving.

  • Tacos or loaded baked potatoes

Tips

  • Low and slow gives the most tender results
  • Don’t overdo the liquid—brisket releases juices
