Here’s a classic, old-fashioned Pecan Log Roll recipe—sweet, creamy, and coated in crunchy pecans 🍬🌰


🌰 Pecan Log Roll

Ingredients (makes 1 large log or 2 small)

  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup finely chopped pecans (for coating)

Optional add-ins:

  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons mini chocolate chips
  • 2 tablespoons chopped dates or raisins

Instructions

  1. Make the filling
    • In a bowl, beat cream cheese until smooth.
    • Add powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and optional cinnamon.
    • Mix until creamy and well combined.
  2. Shape the log
    • Spoon mixture onto plastic wrap or parchment paper.
    • Shape into a log (about 6–8 inches long).
    • Wrap tightly and refrigerate 30–60 minutes until firm.
  3. Coat with pecans
    • Spread chopped pecans on a plate.
    • Roll chilled log in pecans, pressing gently so they stick.
  4. Serve
    • Slice and serve with crackers, apple slices, or vanilla wafers.

💡 Tips

  • Chill well before slicing for clean cuts.
  • For a firmer texture, refrigerate overnight.
  • Store covered in the refrigerator up to 4 days.

  • Chocolate pecan log: Add cocoa powder or mini chocolate chips.
  • Maple pecan log: Replace vanilla with maple extract.
  • Holiday version: Roll in a mix of pecans and crushed pretzels for sweet-salty crunch.
