Warm Cinnamon Sugar Apple Loaf

Ingredients (8–10 servings)

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon (plus extra for sprinkling)
  • ½ tsp nutmeg (optional)
  • ¾ cup sugar
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ½ cup milk or buttermilk
  • 2 cups peeled, chopped apples (about 2 medium apples)

Cinnamon Sugar Topping

  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven
    • 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. Mix dry ingredients
    • In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Mix wet ingredients
    • In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Beat in eggs one at a time, then add vanilla and milk.
  4. Combine
    • Gradually add dry ingredients to wet, mixing until just combined.
    • Fold in chopped apples.
  5. Add topping
    • Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over the batter in the pan.
  6. Bake
    • Bake 50–60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
    • Cool slightly before slicing.
  7. Serve
    • Serve warm with butter, cream cheese, or a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired.

Tips & Variations

  • Extra moist: Substitute ½ cup applesauce for part of the butter.
  • Nuts: Add ½ cup chopped walnuts or pecans for crunch.
  • Caramel twist: Drizzle caramel over the top for a decadent version.
  • Quick version: Use a 9×9-inch pan for thicker slices; reduce baking time to 40–45 minutes.
