Cabbage fritters

Posted on December 19, 2025 by Admin

Here’s a simple and tasty recipe for Cabbage Fritters—crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, and perfect as a snack, side dish, or light meal.

Cabbage Fritters

Servings: 4 (makes ~12 fritters)

Ingredients

  • 3 cups finely shredded cabbage
  • 1 small carrot, grated (optional for color and sweetness)
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ¼ tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 3–4 tbsp vegetable oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Mixture
    • In a large bowl, combine shredded cabbage, grated carrot, and green onions.
    • Add eggs, flour, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and garlic powder. Mix until well combined. The mixture should hold together; add a bit more flour if too wet.
  2. Heat the Oil
    • Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. Form and Fry Fritters
    • Scoop about 2–3 tablespoons of the cabbage mixture for each fritter and flatten slightly into a patty.
    • Fry for 3–4 minutes per side until golden brown and crispy. Remove and drain on paper towels.
  4. Serve
    • Serve hot with sour cream, yogurt, or your favorite dipping sauce.

Tips

  • Crispier fritters: Squeeze out excess moisture from the cabbage using a kitchen towel before mixing.
  • Add-ins: Try shredded zucchini, corn, or cooked bacon for extra flavor.
  • Baking option: Place fritters on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake at 400°F (200°C) for 15–20 minutes, flipping halfway.
  • Make-ahead: The mixture can be prepared a few hours in advance and fried just before serving.

If you want, I can also provide a spicy version with chili flakes and smoked paprika for a kick.

Do you want me to do that?
